I've been looking for some more North American movies dubbed into Mandarin to watch. The theory is that knowing the plot already will make it easier to follow the dialog.
Tonight I found a clip of Mustafa's Death (Lion King) in Mandarin. I watched it, and the dubs were really well done. So, I checked out tudou and found the full Lion King movie dubbed. It looks like it's the same as the previous clip. Just taking a quick look at it, it should be fun to watch!

Google Translate
Google translate converts my last (short) post to:
"Last weekend I go to Chinatown with my girlfriend. There are lots of interesting food. This photo is a big melon. I have not seen too much."
I'd say that's relatively accurate, except for the last sentence. Is there a better way to express "I've never seen anything so big?" than 我还没看过太大大的? I'm also not sure if 瓜 is the correct word for a zucchini, but I do think I can use it for "Squash". 茄子 is strictly eggplant, correct?

大蔬菜

上上个周末我很我的女朋友一起去唐人街。 那里有很多有意思的食物。这张照片是一个大大瓜。我还没看过太大大的。
Not much progress on new cards lately. Since hitting 500 I've slowed down a little. I'm currently at 525. Despite not studying many new characters, I'm doing more rigorous review. Trying to find time this week to fit in some new stuff.
I'm going to spend a few minutes now to label some things in my room that I don't already know the word (or characters for). I've heard this is a good method to reinforce things. I'll post back with some pictures later.

Week #11 Update
Last I posted my plan was to review for a couple of days to reduce the # of cards I had waiting for me in Anki. As of today, I've reviewed all of my phrases and am down to 138 characters due for review. It's taken a little longer than I had hoped to catch up, but it's down to something a little more manageable now. Some extra time tonight and I should be on track.
The downside to this is that I studied 0 new characters last week. I need to be better in that case. This week coming up looks to be a busy week, but I'm hoping to get back to my previous levels (about 10 a day).
Another thing I'm hoping to do is to label a bunch of things in my room with the Chinese characters & pinyin for it. This will be another way of doing some additional study.

Back at it
I'm back from a 10 day vacation that included some down time before and after - all in all it was a great break, but led to not a lot of studying. While I was away I managed to learn 11 new characters, and review some recent ones (not using Anki).
I came back to 253 characters due for review, and 107 phrases. I think for the next day I'll try and do some catch up, and then get back to regular study.
I would also like to practice my speaking & listening more - over the next few weeks I'm going to add some new things to my routine to improve on that. I'll post more and let you know how it goes.
